QuickTake: Brightcove may be destined for the mass market, after all

Last night, I posted my concern that, as it prepares to announce pricing for its internet TV service, Brightcove might pursue a economic model that would price the service out of reach for smaller media outlets and independent producers, choosing instead to concentrate on lucrative deals with big media companies.

This morning, I’ve been getting quiet assurances from inside Brightcove that the company is, in fact, pursuing a broad-market video publishing vision, and will offer a full range of service tiers that will let everyone play.  Watch for news in the weeks ahead, but what I’m hearing today makes me much more comfortable to keep investing in Brightcove-based channels for my clients.
